Your privacy matters to us! The Legacy Foundation has created this privacy statement in order to demonstrate our firm commitment to privacy. We are providing this statement explaining our online and offline information practices and the choices you can make about the way your information is collected and used. This web site has agreed to notify you of:

  • What personally identifiable information is collected from you through the web site.
  • The organization collecting the information
  • How the information is used
  • With whom the information may be shared
  • What choices are available to you regarding collection, use and distribution of the information
  • The kind of security procedures that are in place to protect the loss, misuse or alteration of information under THE LEGACY FOUNDATION'S control
  • How you can correct any inaccuracies in the information.

    Children

Consistent with the Federal Children's Online Privacy Protection Act of 1998 (COPPA), The Legacy Foundation will not knowingly collect any online information from a user under 13 without prior verifiable parental consent. When we do not obtain prior verifiable parental consent, online contact information will be used only to directly respond to the child's request and will not be used to contact the child for other purposes.

    Information Collected

The Legacy Foundation collects information from our users through both our public Web Site and the password protected part of our Web Site (the "Web Sites"). The public Web Site provides information about The Legacy Foundation and allows users to contact us online. The password protected part of our Web Site provides our contractors who enter the site using a unique username and password with the opportunity to record their sponsor lists and to maintain their personal record keeping that is in accordance with the mission of The Legacy Foundation and to share their information with other employees of The Legacy Foundation that are in a 'need to know' position.

The information collected on the Web Sites falls into two categories: (1) information voluntarily submitted, and (2) information gathered via electronic means.

    Information Voluntarily Submitted

You can visit The Legacy Foundation's Web site without telling us who you are or revealing any personal information about yourself. The Legacy Foundation gathers "personally identifiable information" if you voluntarily submit inquiries to us through our feedback form or in the case of our contractors, request access to the password protected part of our Web Site.

The types of personally identifiable information voluntarily submitted on our Web Sites may include your name, company, address, city, state, zip, phone, fax, and email addresses. You can always choose not to provide personally identifiable information, but if you do not provide such information, you may not be able to complete the applicable transaction.

    Information Gathered via Electronic Means

We track visiting domains, internet addresses of the domains from which people visit us to track a user's session and the user's browser also lets us know the type of computer and operating system being used. This allows us to analyze the information as to which parts of our site users spend their time and their length of stay but does not give us any personal information about the user. Specifically, a user's session will be tracked, but the user will be anonymous.

    Cookies

In some parts of the Web Sites we use cookies, which are bits of information that are stored on your computer when you visit a Web Site. Cookies allow the Web Site to recognize you and, among other things, load your page more quickly. You can remove cookies from your computer if you want; your browser's help feature can tell you how. If you do so, please note that some parts of the Web Sites, may not function properly.
